The Old Barn is a 15th Century thatched oak-framed threshing barn with longhouse style addition known as The Piggery. The barn was originally constructed in 1452 and was converted to residential use in 2002. During 2012 2013 a comprehensive programme of improvements was undertaken. Much of the charm of this fine home is the two distinct sections comprising, Threshing Barn which accommodates the kitchen, dining and living areas over a single level and The Piggery which comprises the bedroom and bathroom accommodation. The Threshing Barn is a cruck frame construction under a thatched roof with timbers dated to have been felled in the autumn of 1451. The impressive open plan room has a vaulted ceiling and engineered oak flooring with zonal under floor heating. A contemporary kitchen complements the traditional oak framing and a spacious island unit provides continuity to the dining and sitting areas.
The Piggery features two floors of accommodation under a pitched slate roof. The practical layout is accessed via a main hallway leading to the utility, shower room, master bedroom with en suite shower room, two further double bedrooms and study. A staircase leads to a first-floor suite with a double bedroom and bathroom. There are good storage facilities throughout The Piggery with in-built wardrobes in the master and guest bedrooms.
