These rivets ensure the quick joining of two materials while leaving behind a clean professional finish. How to measure a Rivet: First, measure the diameter of the rivet itself with a dial caliper. Then, just like measuring a bolt, measure the underside of the rivet head to the end of the rivet head. Make sure that you do not measure to the end of the mandrel, you only want the length of the HAT and washer. The grip range of the rivet will be 1/8″ shorter than the measured length. EXAMPLE: If the length of the hat is 1/2″ the rivet is actually a 3/8″ grip (.375), also known as a 4-6 rivet. Please refer to the diagram and charts below for grip ranges, grades, etc. Grip range is not the same as length, the rivet must expand or swell out on the backside in order to hold the rivet together.
