It offers excellent non-contact range detection with high accuracy and stable readings from 2 cm to 400 cm (1 inch to 13 feet) with an accuracy of 3mm, in an easy-to-use package. Its operation is not affected by sunlight or black material like optical rangefinders are (although acoustically soft materials like cloth can be difficult to detect). The HC-SR04 comes complete with an integrated ultrasonic transmitter and receiver.
