About this material: Solid phenolic is a composite material made by applying heat and pressure to layers of kraft paper saturated with phenolic resin. The heatand pressure causes a chemical reaction that transforms the materials into ahigh-density thermosetting industrial plastic. Physical Properties - Very low moisture absorption - Stable under changes in humidity and temperature changes. - Scratch and cut resistant. - Low friction Formica like surface on both sides - High density - Resistant to marking or graffiti Cutting, Machining, and Fastening - Can be cut with woodworking tools using standard carbide tooth sawblades. - Machines very well with router cutters leaving a smooth finish with nottear out or chipping. - Spiral carbide router bits work best. - Can be drilled and tapped with standard tooling. - Can be glued with standard two part epoxy. - Can use regular woodworking screws in pre drilled holes.
