Indigo Natural Dye Powder 50gIt is a high purity natural colorant containing 97-99% indigotine, which is the natural indigo colorant that makes it blue.Indigo can be used for shades ranging from blue to deep blue and purple. This concentrated dye (97-99%) is ideal for naturally dyeing cellulosic materials such as cotton, linen and bamboo, as well as silk and wool.Since indigo is insoluble in water, it is usually converted into so-called white or leukoindigo for application to fabric. This is achieved by careful reduction of indigo in an alkaline environment. For dyeing, the fabric is impregnated with a colorless alkaline solution of leukoindigo and then removed from the dye bath and exposed to air. Lecoindigo is easily oxidized by atmospheric oxygen and again turns into an insoluble blue pigment.
